My limited knowledge. Zelpar is a new MAOB Inhibitor Compound ala Azilect. Improved over Eldepryl, has on average 1 hour more on-time than Azilect and NO cheese (tyramine) effect. Only approved as duo-therapy for later stage, unlike Azilect with can be early stage monotherapy. I think it is Valeant - not even close to the budget of Teva for launching Azilect. We hear good things about the drug, but I'm no medical professional... New Therapy For Parkinson's Disease Patients (NAPSA)-In the United States, an estimated 1.5 million Americans are afflicted with Parkinson's disease (PD), with more than 60,000 new cases diagnosed each year. While the condition usually develops after the age of 65, 40 percent of people diagnosed are under age 60. Parkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive disorder of the central nervous system that belongs to a group of conditions called motor system disorders.
