Subject: The Power of Michael's Message

      Dear Rayilyn,

"One of the most powerful and talked about political advertisements in years" is how our commercial with Michael J. Fox is being described.

The ad is powerful not because it is political, but because it is personal. For years, Michael's characters have entertained us and brought us countless laughs. Now, he is a hero on behalf of the millions of Americans who are touched by an incurable illness. His courage reminds us that is there is hope for cures.

Nearly two million people have viewed the Michael's message on YouTube.com alone. More than 100,000 people have visited our website in the last several days and thousands of people have given generously to help keep this ad on the air.

But most importantly, the attention brought to this issue has been incredible. Click here to read about what the New York Times calls "one of the most powerful and talked about political advertisements in years."

Please help me continue to air ads on this incredibly important issue by contributing $250, $100, $50, or $25. Whatever you can give will truly make a difference.

It's not just the power of Michael's message that has drawn the eyes of the nation, it is also the shameful remarks by conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh. On Monday, Limbaugh called Michael's physical movements in the ad "purely an act" and accused him of "exaggerating the effects of the disease."

Limbaugh's outrageous remarks remind us exactly why we need to change the tone of politics in this country - and why we need real leadership in Washington to stand up for Michael and all those who stand to benefit from life-saving cures.

As Michael said just last night on the CBS Evening News, "This is not about red states and blue states. This is not about Democrats and Republicans. This is about claiming our place as the scientific leader in scientific research and moving forward and helping our citizens. That's all it is. It's that simple." Click here to see the whole interview.

Michael's story has inspired thousands of people to become involved in my campaign. If you haven't already made a contribution, I hope you will do so now.

Will you make a contribution today?

It's important that we keep this debate going in the coming weeks. I hope you will contribute today and forward this ad on to anyone who shares your commitment to stem cell research. Click here to forward this email to your family and friends.

Thank you for your support and generosity. I could not do this without you.

      Sincerely,

      Claire McCaskill
