Dear Editor:

I am sick to death of opponents of embryonic stem cell research claiming adult stem cell cures or treatments for Parkinson's disease. Why? I and 1.5 million Americans have this disease and know this is untrue. Why would we reject treatments unless they were unsuccessful or non-existent?.

Furthermore, I talked to Dennis Turner on 4-24-06 and his Parkinson's has returned with a vengeance after Dr. Levesque's treatment of him with his own brain cells that gave him a reprieve from his PD symptoms for 4-5 years. I also called Dr. Levesque's office at Cedars Sinai Los Angeles in 2003 about this procedure and was discouraged from having it and as far as I know Levesque's research is stalled. As to the other two claims for ASCs for Parkinson's, I know one of the people who participated in Amgen's aborted GDNF infusion therapy trials. Stem cells were not even used in these drug trials.

There is a great deal more wrong with the claims and arguments of those who oppose research on microscopic undifferentiated cells. Their credibility is weak due to their lies about ASCs that I know about first hand. They should stick to their religious arguments and refuse any future treatments that might be a result of ESCR. BUT THEY SHOULD GET OUT OF THE WAY and allow all forms of stem cell research to go forword.

How many cured people do you see running around? Use some common sense. The media has not reported non-existent cures.
