While I agree that this might be a very exciting news, one has to be careful in jumping to conclusions. At any rate, it needs to be tested and proven if these cells are like ESCs (embrsyonic stem cells). My guess is that these Amnioscentesis derived stem cells (AdSCs) are probably not as good as ESCs and definitely they are much more developed along the pathway of differentiation into amniosecntesis. Besides these cells are known to reseach senescence much earlier and have been shown to undergo neosis (a noivel mode of cell division with nuclear budding) and turn tumorigenic. One has to wait and see the results on the long term behavior of AdSCs.
