Cathi Herrod, President of the Arizona Center for Public Policy, either the spawn of Family Research Council or Focus on the Family (I can't remember which right wing org) just expressed her tentative approval of AFSCs but also stated her opposition to amniocentresis tests (because they provide a genetic biopsy and could lead to abortions) that provide the amniotic fluid with 1% of the cells. I don't think it is clear if the religious right will approve anyway. The Pope hasn't weighed in yet.

We all hope, I'm sure, that AFSCs might be an answer, but I still worry about whether or not anything will be acceptable to the religious right. Remember they opposed Dr. Lanza's method of ANT or gene biopsy and embryo disabling.

Having to not only do the research but to get it past their faith-filled bar is an enormous burden.

I hope this latest discovery will not stop you from pushing for support of passage of HR3/S5. We desperately need to send a message in support of science to Bush and his followers to stay out of it. We need ALL kinds of research.

Ray

PS - if AFSCs do, in a decade or so, prove workable, what will happen
