Dear Kate: I have an article in The Writing Center Journal, published about 8 years ago, that is titled something like "Genre and the Writing Center." (i can send you the citation if you want it). The area you mention is something I am quite interested in--in fact, I just gave a paper at the Northern California Writing Centers Association on a panel that was titled, "Creativity and Genre: Implications for the Writing Center."
