Hi, Ned.

David really likes our mattress; he also loved sleeping on the one we had at
our home that we just sold. The one at our former home was Kingsdown....
Absolutely marvellous. Kingsdown offers 4 sleep "systems" with 4 sets of
ascending orders of firmness. We chose #3. The one we have now here in
Florida is by Prana Sleep. Unreal how comfortable and forgiving the
mattress is. We are using a king size mattress, and it's all but impossible
to feel when the other person turns over or gets out of bed, not to mention
how comfortable it is. It's real luxury getting into that bed.

Caveats: both brands are very, very expensive; but, probably the most
important one, is that, in our opinion, the PD patient shouldn't get very
deep mattresses because the higher the bed, the more difficult it is to get
into or out of it. Although David loved the Kingsdown mattress, it was
waaay too high for him. The Prana Sleep that we have now is still high, but
not as bad as the Kingsdown. He would now prefer a lower bed for greater
ease. Consider getting an "old-fashioned" regular mattress, not one as deep
as the above-mentioned ones...or at least one whose frame is flat on the
floor rather than raised up. We might actually have to take the bed frame
away and place the box spring directly on the floor.

Hope this has helped a little.
