Dear CAMR Members,

A vote is scheduled this week in the U.S. House of Representatives on
S. 5, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act!

Debate on the bill will begin on June 6th and the vote is expected on
that day or on June 7th. CAMR has been working closely with House
leadership since the passage of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement
Act (S. 5) in the Senate on April 11, 2007. As you know, S.5 is
slightly different than the bill passed by the House in January (H.R.
3) and requires approval by the House before it can be sent to the
President. We need your help to ensure that this bill passes the
House by a strong majority.

There may be one obstacle in our path to success. Those who oppose
the bill may attempt to use a procedural measure called a “motion to
recommit” to send the bill back to committee in the House and prevent
it from passing. CAMR will view any motion to recommit as an
attempt to block the bill.

Now is the time for you and all of your family and friends to begin
calling your representatives. Your message is simply this: “I urge
you to support and vote in favor of S.5, the Stem Cell Research
Enhancement Act. Please vote against any motions to recommit or
other efforts to block this bill.”

Call the Capitol switchboard at (202)-224-3121 and ask to be
connected to your representative.

Sincerely,

Sean Tipton, CAMR President
