Les,
I had DBS about 10 years ago.  This was when DBS was almost
experimental.   It's helped me a lot-- no more tremors,  I do have
dystonia and fatigue, but I understand today's version of DBS may be
able to deal with these symptoms,

My suggestion is that you join the DBS list serve, where you can get
a ton of good info.   I no longer have the address, but the guy who
owns the list is Charles Black.  As I recall, he's from LA.
