1-Gastroparesis-the stomach does not empty. there are treatments with
limited efficacy.
2-Volume sensitivity-the patient can olny hold 3 ounces of fluid on average.
Novartis makes a nutrient dense substance for this, far better than Ensure
brand, which a GP person cannot usually tolerate.
3-difficulty chewing, perceiving plate location, depression which reduced
appetite AND makes eating more tiresome.
4-dysphagia-an advanced symptom involving trouble swallowing drooling,
coughing, and can contribute to apnea if the dysphagia is severe.
5-wasting- dumping syndrome or mal absorption of nutrients . can be
medications or the Pd itself.
6-dementia-would you eat the peas if they were talking to you? would you eat
the spaghetti if you thought it was worms?

Despite all of these, there are ways to rehydrate and nourish your parkie;
and you will need medical treatment and behavior modification together to
get best results, like you would with most any health problem.

I am not a doctor, just someone who has been dealing with a demented Parkie
who has the stomach capacity of a newborn, for 5 years now. i encourage you
to see Dr and physical therapist for chewing exercises, swallowing therapy,
or WHATEVER treatment is required, which I am not qualified to decide for
you.
Do not allow triage to ignore the consistent weight loss; it means
something is wrong.

A friend who wishes you the best.
