Shake, Rattle & Roll Annual event helps Parkinson's victims By Laura Michels Posted: Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 5:29 p.m. About 1.5 million American's have Parkinson's disease, and a local event is working to help Illinois residents who are living with it. The annual Shake Rattle and Roll walk and ice cream social is being held this Sunday. The event is sponsored by Calipso, an organization formed by Joan Snyder, a local woman living with the disease. "She decided to make it her mission to bring help to Illinois victims. A lot of the money from national organizations you don't know where that money goes and she thought shes going to make a difference," said Amy Boettcher, of Shake Rattle and Roll. Shake Rattle and Roll will be held Sunday on Peoria's Riverfront. Registration begins at 10 a.m., the walk starts at 11 a.m. Different events will be held the rest of the afternoon.
