Please don't change the name "Shake Rattle and Roll" of your fundraiser.
It's a tradition now. I don't mind "Parkies" one bit. Didn't know that
butterflies lived too long anyway???? It sounded like a beautiful idea to
me.

I think prioritizing is the key. Those tests we took to identify our
candidate asked us how strongly we felt about issues. Although I would no
doubt find myself on the same side of these issues if I were well and some
other stuff, it certainly determines the intensity of my commitment.

Anytime you say anything somebody is not going to like it. Free speech
doesn't mean agreement. I just wish people spoke up more. I encourage you
to keep on doing your thing. You do it very well and our futures depend on
you and people like you. You have my thanks and appreciation.

c'mon boys and girls. you've gotta admit that this story was cute,
heartwarmig and funny. i know that it gave me a good feeling to read this
post. but there isn't a reason in the world why the poster had to offer it
almost apologetically, careful not to tread on the toes of those people who
are known only as the "politically correct police! i for one, am getting
quit tired of having to adjust my words and not say something funny just
because of it being deemed inappropuate. i think that we are taking
ourselves way too seriously when we cannot have a bit of fun in the midst of
this damn disease. now, i have heard all about folks who think that it is an
abhorance to call ourselves 'parkies'
because it makes us sound like we are spending our days fliting about a park
all day like little elves or some such nonsense. others dislike the name of
my fund raiser: "Shake, Rattle & Roll" because they find it offensive and
rude. today, i got a letter from some PETA wanna-be's, who thouroughly
denounced me because i had a butterfly release and some of those butterflies
didn't make it. now i love animals (most types) as well as the next person
but i make a distinction between a butterfly who was born into captivity,
bred to flutter and doesn't realize in his little butterfly soul that there
is a whole new world out there and people with parkinson's. i cannot see the
butterfly being mutilated and murdered by people who were obviously having a
wonderful time letting their butterflies go. so now i am in a quandry-what
to do about butterflies next year when most of the people really were into
the idea. i suspect that i have not heard the end of this discussion but
before jumping in and taking sides, let's stop for a second and think about
the fires in california, the war in iraq, iran and north korea
not to mention the diseases we need to cure before we jump on the bandwagon.
honest, i didn't know that some butterflies can't fly! joan
