You better start asking the right questions now.
When I went on SSDI after twenty years civil service besides the six month
wait with no income before it starts coming in the SSDI was taken out of my
retirement pay first and what was left over paid my health insurance which I
consequently could no longer qualify for anywhere else. So after ten years
of SSDI my retirement pay is down to $84 per month once the health
insurance premiums are taken out. If you can still workfull time, you may
want to get a Roth IRA going that should help a little.
I would stop by your local Social Security office and find out for sure what
to expect. Good Luck. Rob
