I did not have a problem with Social Security.? I retired at 59 forced to and took my pension in a lump sum.? At 62 I applied for Social Security at a reduced amount.? Then at 63 I was diagnosed with Parkinsons.? I then applied for social security disability and got a higher amount of around $200.? They told me I had until I was 65 to do this.? It came through in about 8 months with no questions asked.? It is all in how you fill out the forms.? You must put down everything and every Dr.? Parkinsons is a disease that they automatically give you social security from what I have learned.??? Good luck??? When I went on SSDI after twenty years civil service besides the six month wait with no income before it starts coming in the SSDI was taken out of my retirement pay first and what was left over paid my health insurance which I consequently could no longer qualify for anywhere else. So after ten years of SSDI my retirement pay is down to $84 per month once the health insurance premiums are taken out. If you can still workfull time, you may want to get a Roth IRA going that should help a little. I would stop by your local Social Security office and find out for sure what to expect. Good Luck.
