Patrick is `BIO Governor of the Year'
June 13, 2008 05:35 PM
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, who championed legislation to invest
$1 billion in the state's life sciences sector, is being honored in San
Diego next week by a biotechnology trade group, which represents companies
who stand to benefit from the bill.
The Biotechnology Industry Organization plans to give Patrick its "BIO
Governor of the Year" award on Tuesday at the BIO 2008 International
Convention.
Patrick is slated to sign the life sciences legislation into law on Monday.
The bill provides $250 million in tax incentives, $250 million in grants and
$500 million for facilities, much of which has been earmarked for the state
university system.
