I received the following e-mail proving that taking action does work. Greta

NETRP Program Briefing a Success! Please Continue Supporting the NETRP Program Take Action!

            E-mail your Members of Congress

Thanks to your calls and e-mails, the Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Parkinson’s (NETRP) program briefing was a success! Last Wednesday, July 9, the Congressional Caucus on Parkinson’s Disease and PAN were honored to have Colonel Karl Friedl, NETRP program administrator, on Capitol Hill to brief congressional staff on the innovative Parkinson’s research being funded at the Department of Defense’s NETRP program.

Thank you for inviting your Members of Congress and their staff to the briefing and helping us garner stronger support for the Parkinson’s community’s top-priority! An electronic copy of Col. Friedl’s presentation is available for your viewing and as a PDF download on the PAN web site. Please click here to access the presentation.

We still need your support! The House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to meet this week to establish the funding levels for the NETRP program and the entire Defense bill. The Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee is expected to meet to establish their funding level for the NETRP program next week. The funding level set by the Subcommittee is the benchmark for negotiations as the appropriations process moves forward. Your continued commitment to the NETRP program will help ensure it receives the requested $55 million in the Defense Appropriations bill this year. Please take five minutes and e-mail your Members of Congress about the importance of this Parkinson’s research funding!

            TAKE ACTION

You may also thank the following offices who sent staff to the NETRP program briefing: Representative Bilirakis, Representative Snyder, Representative McDermott, Representative Hare, Representative Holden, Representative S. Jones, Representative P. King, Representative M. Udall, Representative Capps, Representative Wasserman Schultz, Representative Upton, Representative Maloney, Representative Van Hollen, Representative Engel, Representative Goode, Senator Casey, Senator Dole, and Senator Tester.
