I agree with Tosh! I think if we have the whole conference focused on
the future of the organization, we won't really have a future! Surely
that topic is better discussed within the context of more specific
issues of note to our profession. The paradox here is, of course, that
if we have relevant issues to discuss, we will continue as an
organization. One topic that I haven't seen discussed recently, but is
becoming current, is methods of evaluating our efficacy as writing
teachers. Just how do we measure the success of our writing initiatives
( i.e. classes, writing centres, WAC/WID programs, tutor training etc
)? Do we do it through student surveys? administrative approval?
faculty involvement exams? That topic could easily lead to a discussion
about the efficacy of Inkshed and how to evaluate that.
