“Who did the heavy lifting in Italian cities?”

The Mid-America Medieval Association will host its annual conference at 
the University of Missouri-Kansas City, *February 28, 2009*. Deadline 
for submission of abstracts: December 15, 2008.


The theme of this year’s conference is urban life and culture, however, 
as usual, papers on any medieval topic will be considered.

One-page abstracts by December 15th to:

Proposals for full panels are welcome – please send a description of the 
panel, as well as one-page abstracts for all papers.


*Jim Falls Graduate Paper Prize
*A prize for the best paper by a graduate student is awarded every year 
at MAMA. Graduate students who wish to compete should should submit 
*three (3) *copies of their paper (the one to be read at the conference) 
with any handouts.

Deadline for submission of full papers: *February 1, 2009*.

*We hope you will stay over Saturday as the Kansas City Friends of 
Chamber Music will present Benjamin Bagby’s _Beowulf_ at Grace and Holy 
Trinity Cathedral, February 28, 2009, 8 PM.
The Friends collaborated with MAMA at the last Kansas City conference, 
and it was a great success! (Check the Beowulf link on the MAMA website 
for reduced price ticket information.)
