Dear Päul:
At the outset, I should tell you that I am not qualified to ive any
medicl advice to anybody. I am just another patient sharing my experiene
with others.
However, I know this. As PD patients, we should never give up the
hope. We should THINK LIKE A FOX AND FIGHT LKE A TIGER.
You should make sure your father gets back into physiotherapy. I know
physical exercise is very important in delaying the symptoms of PD and in
mice. exercise has ben shown to induce stem cell growth. This is the best
weapon we have right now, until a real stem cell therapy for PD is
available.
For me L-carnosine works okay. I have ordered the L-carbosine from
www.PDease.com. I shall know its effects only after about two or three
months.
I am 75 year old. It so hapened that when I was first diagnozed with PD,
when I was 65 years old, I wanted to have a second opinion. Just because
of that my PD specialist refused to see me ans he abruptly camcelled my
appointment! At first I was very mad about his attitude. Then, I decided
this must be for my own good, since I started reading about PD. I have
decided not to take any western medication at all, since most of them have
side effects. Besides, there is no cure for PD in Western medicine.
    I am taking Co-EQ 10 400 mg/day (Puritan's pride) and also a
multivitamin pill (Fro Costco - the one for older people with less iron (Fe)
and I also take 1/2 a pill of Bcomplex veery day.
I have recently added 1.5 pill of sinemet and L-Carnosine.
In addition I am taking 1 pill of Condition specific Brain essentials
(Swanson nutritionals) once in the morning and once in the evening. This
has Gotu kola in it, which is an Ayurvedic herbal medicine used for PD for
centuires.
I am happy to say that I am still able to walk and speak (keeping my
fingers crossed), and I am still active in my research field, which is
cancer.

    I don't know anything about anti-depressant.

I think this is of some use to your father.

With all the best and my kind regards to your father,
    Dr. R. Rajaramn
