Box 100 Garden Grove, CA 92842 RE: CURE FOR PARKINSON'S DISEASE Dr. Schuller: The Parkinson's community requires an immediate and public clarification of your recent assertion that a friend of yours has discovered a cure for Parkinson's disease. Now that Dr. Jannetta's office has issued a statement that there is no cure, it is time for you to say so to your congregation and TV audience. False claims by influential people like yourself cause great pain and suffering to a population already subjected to crushing physical and mental challenges. When a powerful person like you claims there is cure, people listen and tend not to hear disclaimers of "misunderstandings"' consequently, progress toward real cures is thwarted. It sounds to me like you may have confused Parkinson's disease with trigeminal neuralgia since PD has nothing whatever to do with "where the blood meets the nerve". Also the brain surgery for trigeminal neuralgia you might be referring to is over twenty years old. You have a responsibilitiy to tell the truth and to demonstrate an understanding of the seriousness of your actions, Dr. Schuller.
