The excellent collection "Writing Centers in Context: Twelve Case Studies," eds. Kinkead and Harris (NCTE, 1993), includes floorplans of most of the Centres studied, along with considerable discussion of the thinking behind their layout (including some interesting "before and after" reorganization stories). You're very lucky to be in a situation that will allow you to have some input into the layout of your space--I believe most of us have to more-or-less take what we can get!
