To CASLL and CASDW email lists, for whom this may be of interest -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [STLHE-L:] Call for Submissions for Compendium 2: Writing, Teaching, and Learning in the University Date: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 13:06:23 -0400 From: Centre for Learning & Teaching <[log in to unmask]> Reply-To: Forum for Teaching & Learning in Higher Education <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] The editors of Compendium 2: Writing, Teaching, and Learning in the University are looking for new contributions for the journal’s second issue, scheduled for online publication in April 2009. A peer- reviewed journal comprised of essays, assignments, and writing guidelines, Compendium 2 is a cross-disciplinary resource that provides assignments, tips, and new insights into the instruction of post-secondary writing. As we move into an increasingly digitized age, instructors are faced with the question of how best to incorporate technology into pedagogical practice. Compendium 2 addresses issues such as integrating editorial training into the classroom, teaching composition and critical thinking across the disciplines, writing collaboratively, writing for the web, and negotiating the digitization of library and archival resources. With articles spanning multiple disciplines, Compendium 2 celebrates the diverse nature of writing instruction. For the second issue, we welcome descriptions of assignments or techniques relevant to teaching post-secondary writing in any discipline. Lengthier submissions such as research articles, pedagogical reflections, and theoretical essays are also welcome; while we have already accepted articles of this nature for the current issue of Compendium 2, new submissions will be considered for future editions of the journal. The recommended length for contributions that focus on the practice of composition pedagogy is 250 to 1000 words, while feature-length essays should be in the range of 3000 to 5000 words. We ask that all submissions be submitted online (see below) and conform to MLA, APA, or Chicago style guidelines. The deadline for submissions is January 5, 2009. Please check our website for further information, and to submit an article through the online process, http://www.compendium2.ca/ (best viewed in Firefox).
