Kathleen To answer your question as to why my first and second visits to a local support group were a year apart was the age difference. The average age of PD onset is 60 - I was in my early 40's. I eventually started a young onset group but there were so few of us that we had to merge with the older group. Our younger group found that we were more aware of the needs of young onset PWP (work, family, disability, etc) and arranged our programs accordingly. We also have a bi-monthly "Newly Diagnosed" program through a local hospital resource center. Most importantly, we do social things outside the monthly meetings - and we're all a call away. (part deleted) You say you didn't go back to the support group you started attending for a year after your first visit. If you wouldn't mind, could you say why?
