Moneesha, I advocate making music, and the more, the better. (This is my
secret cure for the world's problems!) Prem should not give up on music. I
would say that perhaps he should try other instruments and see if he can
find one on which he can play something satisfying, and take it from there.
Playing a vibraphone, for instance, is an entirely different bag than
guitar, and it's really easy to make nice sounds on it. And then there are
wind instruments, etc, quite the variety. Or, have you ever seen a
dijeridoo? Fascinating instrument. Bagpipes? Jaw harp? Ukelele?
Glockenspiel? Prem may be able to find another, fulfilling way to make
music.

Hey, I think I've come up with an interesting new combination of
instruments! I'll have to write a tune for it.

Enjoy!
Rick McGirr

Rick and Ray,

Prem, my husband, really enjoys music and one of his great joys was to play
the guitar to accompany his own singing. One of the first things he lost
after his diagnosis was the fine motor skills required for this. He kept
trying, but eventually has given up on the guitar. He also had to give up
on the computer, because he could not get his fingers to do what he wanted
with the mouse. And, as you say, Rick, the anxiety does not make things
easier.
