> Hi listmates, may i ask a question please, my dad (73yrs old) who was
> diagnosed with mild parkinsons since 2000 had an appointment with his
> neurologist recently.  The neurologist said that my dad is depressed
> and that in his opinion the reason why he stopped being able to walk alone
> & why he cant use the toilet independently in the last 8 months is due to
> this depression.  (which he will treat with anti depression tabs)

Hi,
depression is often part of the PD package and will lessen with proper PD
treatment without the help of antidepression tabs. What your father need is
to consult a neuro who specializes in PD and not all neuros do.
You don't say if your father takes any PD meds but he may well do better with
PD meds instead of antidepression ones
