I had a few hypno sessions in the mid-80's related to smoking cessation. I already knew I didn't *want* to quit smoking. But I think my hypnosis sessions didn't work just because I'm a tireless skeptic. Sometimes, "How do you know?" comes out of my mouth before I even talk to anyone in the morning. I think being a good subject in hypnosis requires that one suspend one's disbelief. This is a fundamental departure from actively participating in music. Of course, anyone has to be motivated and really pursue music long-term to get the best benefits from it. But there is no requirement of belief or disbelief. You're participating in a realtime, physical, hands-on activity, as opposed to a psychological mindset. Enjoy! So, It seem's to be a life saver for the majority of those who want it and a waste of time for those who do not. Music therapy works in about the same way.
