I've been on the stuff since diagnosis in '01. I now take Sinemet CR 50/200 three times a day, first dose about 9:30, second at 4-ish, third at around 9 or 10. The third dose may seem late, but being a night owl, it works for me, and seems to smooth the overnight stretch, which is the longest spent without taking meds. About two months ago I also started taking Comtan 50 mg along with each dose of carb/levo. I was having problems with diskenesias and the Comtan seems to have helped, I guess. The precise action and the best timing of these drugs has always been elusive. I can be on the same sched on consecutive days and get way different results. Of late I have been more mindful of what I eat and when, after reading everyone's thoughts about the conflict between protein and the meds. Ray, how do you rate your DBS now, 5 years after? Has its benefits lessened over time? Why did your neuro give you carb/levo? Hang in there, kid. When I first tried it it helped but never again even tho I took it for a year. He gave me 25/100 3 times a day and I've forgotten how you space the dosages. Do you take it at night or just daytime? I've forgotten. in 2003 I had DBS and tried Comtan and Stalevo afterwards but it didn't help.
