As some of the posts have indicated it is very difficult to establish a
causal relationship between a certain disease and a specific cause. Let
me remind everybody of the situation where there was suspicion of a
connection between power line radiation and Leukemia. This connection
has been debunked but one still sees articles about it. (The debunking
was an extremely expensive effort and took many years). In the case of
the power line radiation researchers thought they observed clusters but
in fact the clusters were simple probabilistic events. So in the case of
TCE or insecticides establishing a causal connection between those
chemicals and a specific disease is difficult and usually very tedious.
For TCE it is more likely that there is a connection between it and
cancer. Some chlorinated hydrocarbons have been found to be carcinogenic.

The bottom line is: Avoid jumping to conclusions, even though a as
victim of a certain disease it is very tempting to do so.
