Hi
I read this post and wanted to add my experience with Amantadine. One of
the most "common" side effects of Amantadine is Livedo reticularis.

Defined below is this side effect:
"Livedo reticularis is a vascular condition characterized by a purplish
mottled discoloration of the skin, usually on the legs. This discoloration
is described as lacy or net-like in appearance. Livedo reticularis can be a
normal condition that causes no symptoms and needs no treatment."

Basically, and especially your lower extremeties will make you appear to
have on fish-net hose. When it first happened to me while taking
Amantadine, it scared my doctor (and me) to death -He thought I had blood
clots or very poor circulation in my legs. This considition is seen in lupus
patients.

Amantadine is an older medication originally used for flu-like symptoms.
Then they found some benefit with PD symptoms and dyskinesia. I had been put
on the medication for dyskinesia, which worked wonderfully, but only for a
few months.

Another side-effect little discussed is that it sometimes causes hair loss.
So it's like with most Western medicine treatment, you give the patient
one pill, and it causes another symptom, so you either stop that medication
or take another one for the side effects.. (sigh). You just have to weigh
the benefit vs the side effects and success in treatment your symptoms.
