Medtronic gets OK to sell device for treating Parkinson's
Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - by Katharine Grayson Staff Writer

Medtronic Inc. has received regulatory approval to market two
brain-stimulation devices used to treat patients suffering from Parkinson's
disease, the company said Thursday.
The devices, dubbed Activa RC and Activa PC, deliver electrical pulses to
parts of the brain, helping Parkinson's patients control symptoms of the
disease, such as tremor. Fridley-based Medtronic will begin selling the
products in the United States next month.
Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) has sold brain-stimulation products for treating
Parkinson's symptoms in the past. However, the new devices offer more
features, including a rechargeable battery, the company said.
