Subject: New Information About Parkinsn Listserv Messages
Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2009 05:46:22 +0800

Old Timers to Parkinsn remember how hard it used to be to access the
archives. At that time UTORONTO did not choose to upgrade the
Listserv software to include a web interface because of budget
constraint and the expense of new servers.

We fitfully archived the archives at PIENO and made them searchable
several years ago. Simon Coles and I achieved the task slightly
differently and with Barbara Patterson created the PIENO home for the
archives. Simon changed employers which necessitated moving his website.

An angel appeared out of our midst. Margaret Tuchman was a driving
force in the creation of PIENO. Many of you may not know her but she
is the founder the annual Parkinson's Walks, DBS-STN.org and the
Parkinson Alliance which has raised millions for Parkinson's research.

Well so much for history but I will attempt to explain the new links
contained in each message Header.

This is a message header:

Clicking on these links tells the listserv what you want and assists
you in getting it done. Some functions require you to login.

As a tutorial, Click the link above for List-Archive:

At the top right of that page is the word Login. Click that.

Logging in requires an email address and if you haven't selected a
password look for the words "Get a new Listserv Password" and click
on it. Enter your email address and enter a password of your choosing
twice. Once you click on register password, you can log in.

Don't be timid, explore.

One other thing, the Xs in the example are the way PIENO and the
Listserv block out your domain name like aol.com to protect your
privacy. Use common sense in your postings and refrain from including
specific information like your street address or phone numbers, etc.
The internet is not private nor is Parkinsn.
