Meg,
I did not go off meds entirely (taking sinemet still) but about 10 years ago I was taking mirapex and eldepryl with Sinemet and when I did end the mirapex and eldepryl I had marked improvement in symptoms... which has remained.?? Apparently that combo of meds, for me, increased edema in legs, difficulty walking as well as sleep deprevation as well as some increase in tremor.

Subject: Going Off Meds Question

HI All - My sister was dxd with PD about 15 years ago when she was 38.
She has been taking mirapex, requip and eldepryl is relatively small
doses since then. She has a fairly marked tremor mostly on one side, and
recently began experiencing seriously dry eyes, major back pain, and
pain in her legs, making it difficult to navigate stairs and things. 7
days ago, she ran out of all her PD meds, and just stopped taking them
(yikes.) Since then, she is feeling just amazingly good. All pain has
disappeared, her tremor is noticeably calmed, she is sleeping all night,
no issues with stairs etc... Have any of you ever heard of such a
thing? We are of course currently wondering if she has been
mis-diagnosed, those she sees a movement disorder specialist, and as
someone who works in the field, she certainly seems to have every
outward sign of PD. Any thoughts? Thanks, Meg
