On the National Library of Medicine and National Institute of Health website
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez), out of 2,550 papers on Parkinson's
Disease, there are 111 papers mentioning ECT (Electro--Convulsive Therapy) and
PD together; almost all concern the treatment of depression in PD, using ECT. I
could find no substantive study of ECT used for the treatment of PD, per se.
I note that the patient mentioned was regarded as suicidal, and therefore
probably clinically depressed.
