 | Hello. My name is Norm Beam.
| I just joined this group to get information. I have not been diagnosed
| with Parkinson's, but I would really appreciate some information at what
| I have been going through.

Hi Norm,
Myoclonus is a symptom of a disease, not a diagnosis. I am really sick and
tired of doctors who use medical terms to tell you what you have just told them
in layman's language. I would prefer them to be honest and just say, "Your
symptoms could be caused by any one of several diseases. I am not knowledgeable
enough to make a diagnosis, and I will refer you to a specialist in the field."

That will be the day!! :-(

Luckily, we have an invaluable research tool on the Internet, provided you know
where to look, and can "sort the grain from the chaff", so to speak.

I would suggest that you try http://www.ninds.nih.gov/index.htm which is the
site for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, run by the
National Institute of Health, the US government Medical Research Agency. It is
about the most authoritative site I know.

It is a pity you have to wait so long to see a Neurologist, but it is essential,
I believe. Parkinsonism has many faces, of which idiopathic Parkinson's disease
is only one. Furthermore, each sufferer is unique in their needs. is It takes an
expert to firstly diagnose which type, devise a unique treatment of that
patient, and then to manage the disease progressively.
