Looks like she is having caregiver burnout. Over here in Malaysia, a lot of Parkinson's patients hire maids from other countries. One of my patients "changed" her maid almost every year - all her maids ran away from home. I think the maids are not mentally prepared to take care of sick people.

You are right. It is the right decision to fire her.

> Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and support regarding my CG problem. It has been interesting and helpful listening to all the various reactions. Diane even put my problem on some blogs and the response was good.

> Some people have suggested I fire her and I agree it should happen; however, I want to be on the way to replacing her before I do that. I haven't heard from the agency I emailed yet, but I need to make inquiries anyway. I have a good friend who was here over Xmas who will help if I need to fire her. Even in a good economy it was difficult to find good help through agencies for my mother. So I know a bit of luck helps.

> Since she has denied responsibility for any of her actions, I don't think talking will help. She didn't respond to what I wrote, but we had better day Monday. I have decided I have to let her know what I am going to do, not discuss or bargain. Someone on a blog told me if she ever leaves me waiting I should tell her I will take a taxi and she won't get paid that day.

> I am in the process of using different "sorting" baskets for the laundry and am going to write a Household Guide which can be used by anyone. When she first started to work for me I made a list of things to be done weekly, monthly, yearly and left her alone. There was no way I could have anticipated some of these things. Maybe there is a five year burnout for CGs, although the care has been minimal she does have home problems which don't help.

> But I can change my attitude and approach, thanks to you all.
