Dear early drama folks,
MRDS annouces that the deadline for nominations for the Palmer and Johnston
Awards has been extended to February 15. Descriptions of these awards are
below, and we encourage you to consider your graduate students' work for the
Johnston award, or new archival work for the Palmer award. Also, it is
perfectly acceptable to self-nominate. This is the first year for the Palmer
award. Nominees need NOT be MRDS members.

The Barbara D. Palmer Award for Best New Essay in Early Drama Archives
Research
$100 and one year membership in MRDS

For the Palmer Award: Any essay published within 18 months of the deadline
and judged by the committee to be of outstanding quality. Qualifying essays
published in a collection may be submitted for the Palmer Award.

The Alexandra Johnston Award for Best New Conference Paper in Early Drama
Studies by a Graduate Student
$100 and one year membership in MRDS

For the Johnston Award: Any conference paper delivered by a graduate student
within 12 months of the deadline and judged by the committee to be of
outstanding quality. Entries for the Johnston Award should not exceed 5,000
words, excluding notes, and should include the name and date of the
conference at which the paper was delivered and, where appropriate, the
title and sponsor of the panel.

Also, for MRDS members, MRDS dues notices and ballots have just gone out in
the mail. Watch for them!! Ballots are due March 1.
