I was very fortunate when my bilateral dbs resulting in greatly enhanced functioning. However, the batteries that were expected to last 5 years barely made it 3 yrs. The battery replacement surgery was not peformed until 2 weeks later anad i immediatesly began to have problems. I could only walk leaning about 30degrees which lead to several. Falls resulted. In the fall of 2008 i developed neuroleptic maligment syndrome. I was in a coma almost 2 months. I would like to anyone who has experienced problems after battery changes or deleoped neuroleptic maligment syndrome.
