Another issue that we had with Aricept is that it, as well as other dementia
medications of the same type, can add to incontinence problems. Our neuro
explained that the messages to the brain counteract any that may come from
incontinence meds. So when we stopped both the Aricept and the incontinence
medicine, we had almost a yearlong relief from that problem. However, as
with many things it was only temporary. The incontinence has returned and
doesn't seem to be relieved by stopping his Exelon patch, which replaced the
Aricept. I will probably stop the Exelon anyway, because I don't think that
it is helping.

My husband has had PD for over 20 years, with a diagnosis at age 45. The
disease marches on. Physically doing pretty well with two DBS surgeries,
but suffers from advancing dementia.
