Angie

Welcome to this club you don't really want to be a member of. I've had PD
14 years now and as far as I know there is nothing guaranteed you can take
to slow this disease down. I post claims when I find them.

Everybody with PD is different as to response to drugs. I've read that
there are a few folks who can take Sinemet w/out side effects for years.
However, it seems they work well for most for about 5 years. For me, it was
only one dose that worked so I don't take them. 7 years ago I had DBS which
stopped my tremors. You will have to plot your own course. Hopefully
you've got a good MDS. One of my first was a real drug pusher plus being an
arrogant, heartless, p#$%*!

In the first few years it wasn't so bad, nothing a person couldn't live
with. I exercised on the treadmill for an hour a day and walked but didn't
keep it up. Now I do forced cycling 2 hours daily but can barely walk at
all or talk.

My advice to newbies is to REALLY GET SERIOUS ABOUT EXERCISE AND STICK WITH
IT!!! I BELIEVE IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF AND
IT CAN'T HURT.

Good luck, Angie. maybe you are young enough to benefit from improved
treatments (but don't count on it).
