Subject: I'll die another day

Dear Friends and Relatives

For the past 3 weeks I've endured the worst medical ordeal of my life,
worse than ovarian cancer and arterio-venous fistulas. My stimulators
started dying before then, at end of June but my neurologist thought they
were OK. Week of August 10 Teresa left for Bolivia and her daughter
Patricia (just graduated physician's assistant school) took me to see Dr.
Pagano's replacement for vacation. He didn't know beans about programming,
so we got Medtronic programmers to come to Pagano's office the following
Monday. They confirmed that one stimulator was dead, the other one dying.
We got appt with Dr. Pootraluk the following Friday and surgery scheduled
for Monday August 23rd.

Advanced Parkinson symptoms were full blown; I could barely move and shook
constantly and my blood pressure has been out of control. The symptoms are
always with me, it is just a matter of degree. Now that I've got new
stimulators I am working my way back to my old "normal" which is why even
emailing was impossible.

A special thanks to Meg, Sami, Tess and everyone who offered help and
encouragement.

As if I needed to be reminded -- Parkinson's is a horrid, diabolical
disease. And no, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Thanks again.

Ray
