Soundslike a miracle that you are alive! I am a walking miracle too. I had
my dbs surgery in Dec 2004 and batteries went dead in april of 2008. It took
2 weeks to get the surgery to replace them and afterwards, I immediately had
problems. I had terrible vertigo and I could not walk standing straight at
all. I leaned so far to the right I couldn't walk a straight line. Then in
Sept 2008 I went the ER (where no one knew a thing about dbs) for "slurred
speech and incoherence". I then went into seizures amd 107 fever and was
transfered to the hospital where I had the dbs surgery. The diagnosis was
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome. (I'v never even heard of it.) I had total
organ failure and they induced a coma to save my life. I was in the coma
almost 2 months....a long story. Several times my family were told to say
goodbye, but through a series of miracles I am home now, recovering better
than could have ever been expected. In fact, the parkinsons symptoms have
actually improved tremendously and I am on less medications. Amazing. I'm
glad you survived your ordeal and pray for your coninued healing.
