Tony

I have had Parkinsons' for 20 years. I had DBS surgery in two
different days in January and February 2009. It has changed my life
and I would do it again if needed. I had moved in with my sister as
I couldn't take care of myself any longer and couldn't drive. After
the surgery and the programing sessions, I could drive and moved out
of the house and into my own apartment. I find I am having trouble
writing and my fingers don't work as well as they did when I was
younger, but that wouldn't stop me from telling someone that I would
be in favor of DBS. However, not all people with PD are good
candidates for DBS, Only a neurologist can tell. Also some people
have not benefited by this surgery. It took me a long time to make
my mind up but it ended up being the right decision.
