My stimulators, 2 of them, are in my chest hooked up to electrodes that go
into holes in my skull into the subthalmic nucleus of my brain. I had 2 DBS
(deep brain stimulation ) surgeries (One was a redo of one side of my brain)
in 2003. DBS stopped my tremors and helps with movement. The stimulators
(brain pacemakers) have batteries that have to be replaced every few years.
I don't take PD meds so I was in bad shape when they died. I have had PD
for almost 15 years.

I'm sorry, I thought everyone knew about DBS and the neurostimulators.
Unfortunately there is not much that can be done re voice problems, although
I've heard some people have botox shots and some claim help from voice
lessons that have you speak louder. When I do that people really freak out.

I have a little loud speaker, but it is too heavy for me to carry as my
hands are so weak. It does amplify my voice like a loud speaker, but I
can't use it.
