yes, you do crash and burn if stimulators are not replaced before they die; 
but if meds don't work there is no other choice.

although it is creepy being awake while its done, wires in your brain don't 
hurt.

don't  know about hot air, but neurosurgeon told  me I had an extra thick 
skull when drilling the two holes.  that figures, huh?
