My DBS surgeon and also my neurologist told me that DBS is used in the treatment of depression, but I believe they said the target location was slightly different. Be that as it may, my DBS seemed to reduce my major depressive disorder--that along with cutting out some of the medicines, some self-help cognitive behavioral therapy, cutting back on my stress levels and other situational factors decreasing with the passage of time.
