sorry if we've flustered you, David.   I'm one of those who used the word placebo & I wasn't taking a shot at you, I was trying to figure why something that shouldn't work seems to be doing so.  
PD wrecks lives (I was diagnosed about the same time as you) and most of us are desperate for a cure - I sometimes think the scientists are having too much fun poking around to understand the importance of an answer.
 
plus, there are a lot of fake potions out there...
