Hi Michele. I'm a "young-ish" onsetter myself - diagnosed at 47 and now about to hit 55. You're right, it is scary - all the other local pd sufferers seem to be a generation older than me (one actually is an old school-teacher of mine ! ) which limts social possibilities. I think this group saved my sanity when I forst joined. If you don't like going out because of the stares - I tried going up to the person staring and offering information - this usually re-assures them you're not a weirdo or causes them to bolt. Do check information for yourself - the medics don't know half as much as they claim to. I'm in the UK - southern England. What's Montana like ? Wish I'd been to the USA, lovely country despite odd craze for guns, bizarre weather & strange belief that it's possible to declare "war on terror" - impossible to shoot an emotion....... The words from them (after 3 trips to my local neurologist and needed help with a diagnosis of a possible young-onset parkinson's) was this was not the death sentence etc. etc. but won't right down the actual word parkinson's for a year due to getting long term insurance later on. Never heard that before but ok... They are starting me on new medication (I was on Azilect but insurance won't cover it so had to stop) and have a plan for medications if need added, etc. They will be working one-on-one with my local neuro and will see her at least every 3 months and go back to Salt Lake every year - unless needed sooner. I also have direct email contact with them - which I love since I don't have the best luck contacting my local neuro. > > All this is very scary for me and my family.
