Dave Unlike Meg I have not received death threats, but as a Parkinson's prisoner of 16 years I have received a "life sentence" that not only puts me under house arrest but I am gradually turning to stone and becoming a prisoner in my own body. Nevertheless, I would oppose ANY research that involved killing babies and I have been called a "baby killer" on line. I think most ESCR opponents know it does not involve killing babies, but they will lie and a few will even murder abortion doctors to achieve their goal of criminalizing abortion. These people may not all be equally nuts and cruel, but the effect is the same as if they were. I do not believe suffering is a good thing and that if it is part of a cryptic plan I don't understand, I DON'T LIKE IT!!!!! Therefore it should be full speed ahead on ESCR and people like Meg and her family should not have to live with these threats. People, perhaps under the influence of a guy like this, tracked down my home phone number and address and called and mailed me death threats. I was the lucky recipient of a box of bloody tissue. My young son was accosted at his school and told that his mother was a murderer and an agent of the devil. I firmly believe in choice. People certainly have the right to oppose this research. They do not have the right to obfuscate the issues,or to use their positions as public servants to stir up hate and fear. Having been a target of this sort of hate mongering, I feel well able to comment on this issue and to strongly oppose this irresponsible pandering.
