It is an evidence based program. Studies have shown that people with PD have greater percentage of medication areas and longer hospital stays than other groups. It was thought that much of this was to do with lack of education within the hospital healthcare teams. The kit was devised to provide education and strategies to reverse this trend. In pilot studies it proved to do so.
