It could be a side effect of the anesthetics.  Years ago, JOhn had
broken his hip and they put a prosthesis under local anesthetics. 10
days later, he was almost back to normal and recovered totally.
6 years later, he broke the other hip. They did it under general
anesthetics but he also had 20+ years of PD and was older. DidnĀ“t make
it.

If it is due to the anesthetics, your wife should get back to her
previous stage once it washes off. Check for any sign of infection which
never helps PWPs.
